سفره هفت سين
[ مراسم جشن نوروزي ]
زيباترين و جالبترين مراسم سال،جشن عيد نوروز بود. آخرين روزهاي زمستان (قبل از شروع عيد و بهارسال نو) مردم به خانه تكاني، نظافت وهمچنين پخت انواع شيريني جات ایرانی می گذشت. براي تهّيه لباس عيد نزد خيّاط ميرفتيم.
در شهر جنب و جوش و شادي فراواني بچشم ميخورد و سال نو با صداي توپ ، شادي و رو بوسی شروع ميشد. همه افراد برای برای آغاز سال نو و اعلام آن از رادیو دقیقه شماری میکردندو سپس روبوسی در سراسر ایران صورت می گرفت.
کفش نو برای من بسیار مهم بود.درطول یک سال من دو جفت كفش نو داشتم كه بوي چرم نوي آن حد اقل برای مدت یک هفته یا بیشتر حس عجيبي به من ميدادند.
خوب به خاطر دارم که مراسم وپذيرائیهای نوروز وسواس عجيبي در مادرم ايجاد ميكرد. با وجود کمکهائی که از مستخدمین میگرفت ، دلشورهُ ديد و بازديدها و تلاش برای پذيرائي هر چه بهتر باعث نگراني وي بود.

The most exciting event of the year, by far, was the Nowruz: the Persian New Year. The last days of winter brought frenetic rounds of housecleaning, and cooking and baking. All the girls got to visit the tailor for new formal dresses.
There was a happy, hopeful, generous vibe throughout the city; everyone focused on the first day of the spring and the moment the solemn countdown on the radio ended in a blast of canons and a hail of hugs and kisses throughout of the country.
My new shoes meant a lot to me. Usually I only got two pairs of shoes each year. The smell of the new leather drove me ecstatic, at least for the first week or so.
I remember that celebrating Nowruz was stressful for my mom, even with her servants toiling round the clock. She had to entertain hordes of visiting family and friends. She felt she had to be the best in preparation of cookies and candies.
